The Leather Wardrobe Staple

I have been posting a lot of leather dress outfits lately.  I believe wearing leather can upgrade any outfit, that's why its my favorite thing to wear for the cold season. Especially where I live you can pretty much wear leather all year long. Whether real or faux, leather will never steer us wrong and it will never go out of style. This wardrobe staple, not exclusive to the jacket, can be easily integrated into your everyday outfit. There's no better fabric to help you overcome the occasional "I have nothing to wear" syndrome -- just one pop of leather can spice up your ensemble and help you channel your inner biker girl. For today's look, I wore a button-down shirt under this strapless faux leather dress to make it weather appropriate look , also layered a denim jacket in between the dress and the coat to keep myself extra warm. Check out my other leather dress look at hereherehereherehere and here.

The Fresh Way To Wear Your Leather Dress This Early Spring

A leather dress is a chic and timeless garment. If you've managed to find one that suits your figure and personality, you'll want to make the most of this statement piece by pairing with the perfect accessories for the occasion. While a leather dress is a strong piece on its own, a bright dose of color adds a modern twist to the ensemble. Where I live, the winter last until end of the March. So I have to think of ways to look good and keep myself warm at the same time. To make this look classic and chic, I wore a plain white shirt under the short sleeve leather dress. For my button, I wore a similar shade floral pants under. I love to wear leather dresses in cold weather. Check out my other leather dress look at herehereherehere and here

City Chic Downtown Girl :: Leather Head To Toe

Since I was a teenager, I have moved from Chongqing, to Shanghai, then Beijing, and then Hongkong, now Vancouver. I have always lived in Downtown wherever I go.  I feel that the Downtown fashion is always the biggest influence when I move from place to place. Now I live in Vancouver, BC, Canada, The world's 3rd worst dressed city. Ha Ha! Where you see yoga pants everywhere on the street.  Vancouver Downtown fashion is actually pretty cool, it's a mix of hipster, laid-back and sexy. Here are also a lot of cool fashion bloggers like THP, and myself :) based in Vancouver. However, a lot of times I still got people ask me "Are you going to a wedding?"; "Why you dressed up?" Why you should only dress up nice when you go to a wedding? If you want to dress up to go to McDonalds, by all means do it! I think you should never compromise your taste. You dress up for yourself.

I'm a huge fan of leather and I have posted quite a few Leather Head To Toe looks on my blog and this is my favorite look by far.  For my previous Leather Head To Toe looks please check out here and here.

How To Wear A Long Vest

If you are anything like me, you’ll be searching out ways to wear vests through winter before long; I’ve got a wardrobe full of vests in almost every style and color, and I love wearing them! Whether you like your vests denim and cropped or down-to-your-knees long, they become the crowning piece of any look — regardless of temperature. When it gets cold outside, though, you need more than just a cute outfit. Staying warm in a vest takes some effort, but it’s a great way to break up that warm jumper + jeans Winter rut!

A long vest is a layering essential. I love to wear long vest this season. I have wore long vests on my blog many times. Check out HereHereHere and Here. My favorite way to wear a long vest is over a dress, you can also wear it over leather trousers or jeans, and add a waistcoat or wool cardigan on top. You can even double-up on vests, such as a long white vest and a short black one, and just throw bracelets and a long, warm scarf on over the top. Chilled, yet chic.

Mixed Metals

There might have been a time when fashion frowned on wearing your sterling silver earrings with gold bangles, but fashion likes to break its own rules. 10 years ago people used to think that gold and silver jewelry don’t go together. If you still think that way, now it's time to break the style rule. The contrast of mixed metals looks fresh. Mixed metal accessorizing focuses on the purposeful combination of gold, silver and other metal finishes. As we’ve seen on countless bloggers, street style stars, and celebrities, mixing metals when it comes to jewelry can look fresh and very now. The trick? Make it look deliberate as opposed to haphazard. The easiest way to do it is to up your arm-swag game by stacking bracelets in varying widths and shades of silver and gold. Same goes for necklace: layer a few in silver and gold that are both thick and thin. To really go for it, toss some rose gold in the mix, too. I'm wearing layered gold and sliver necklaces, same as my bangles and rings. For earirngs, I'm wearing the rose gold.

Wrapped Up

I took these photos awhile back if you followed my Instagram you could see some photos of this outfit I posted before the holidays. I love to wear dresses. But sometimes a pretty dress can be too dressy(or sexy) for a day attire. I toned this pretty dress down by pairing it with this black wrap coat. A simple black coat is as valuable as an LBD. It goes with everything, from the casual outfit to an adorable dress with tights. Black is always the new black when it comes to jackets. It’s simple and delicately chic.

Sparkly Silver Jewelry And Ethnic Moment

Remember last year, the pin-thin, worn stacked on every knuckle or every digit, and layered on your neck and on your lobes, the all-gold-everything jewelry thing really had a huge moment in 2014. This year, 2015. We’re predicting that the pendulum is going to swing back to silver this year. Instead of pearls and gold hues, we’re going to see a lot more glinting stones and platinum finishes. These rings, necklaces, and earrings will still be delicate and worn in multiples, but the added glitz will require stacking obsessives to show a bit more restraint. For women with platinum engagement and wedding rings (Like myself) who’ve been trying to reconcile those pieces with all that gold, it’s your turn to have a little fun now.

Summer Tropical Skirt In Winter

Break out your miniskirts. Pull your summer dresses up to the front of your closet. And don’t forget to grab your open-toe heels. Winter is here, but that doesn't mean you have to dress for a date with Mr. Frost. Sure, you may miss your sun-tanned glow. But don’t let your fashion suffer from the cold. All you need to do is one, simple thing — layer up! In today's post, I'm wearing my summer skirt, dress (under my skirt), and summer jacket (If you still remember this jacket from one of my summer post). The only winter piece is the vest that I layered on top, and I secretly wore a invisible nude tights with my summer sandals. Here are some tips of how to winterize your summer wardrobe:
  • Strappy summer sandals look cute with colorful tights.
  • Don’t put away the florals, layer up with your furs.
  • A shirt-dress can be worn with super tall socks or boots.
  • Turn a summer dress into a winter skirt by adding a cute sweatshirt on top.
  • These awesome “invisible” socks or tights will keep your legs warm with summer flats.
  • Try a turtleneck under shift dresses.
  • Try a scoop or crew-neck under a jumpsuit.
  • Invest in a great pair of opaque leggings to wear under cutoffs.
  • A Fair Isle pattern looks great mis-matched with bright summer colors underneath.
